What are aesthetics?

What makes things right or wrong, beautiful or ugly, important or irrelevant, valued or of no consequence?

Since 2016 I have been pondering over this question and turning my attention to ordinary objects found in the park - stones, leaves, etc. Turning them in my hand and looking at them on all sides, getting pleasure from the nuances on each side. Such interest in the non-beautiful objects began long before 'Out of the loop' was conceived, it has in fact been with me for most of my adult life. All that I have understood so far is that worth, value, beauty and aesthetics has nothing to do with its monetary value or indeed with fashion.
